IvesTravels ("we", "our", or "us") is a bus ticket booking application serving passengers across Cameroon. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Registration
When you create an account, we collect:
Full name – used to identify your account and print on your ticket.
Phone number – used as your login identifier and for OTP verification. Stored in the format +237XXXXXXXXX.
Password – stored as a one-way SHA-256 hash. We never store your plain-text password.
Email address (optional) – used as an alternative login identifier if you choose to provide it.
Booking Information
When you book a trip, we collect:
Passenger name(s)
WhatsApp number (optional) – used to send your e-ticket via WhatsApp.
Selected route, date, seats, and bus agency
Payment amount and transaction reference
Payment Information
We process mobile money payments (MTN MoMo and Orange Money) through our payment partners CamPay and NotchPay. We collect your mobile money phone number to initiate payment. We do not store full card numbers or mobile money PINs — these are handled exclusively by the payment providers.
Push Notifications
If you grant permission, we collect your device's Expo push notification token and device platform (iOS or Android) to send you booking confirmations and departure reminders. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings.
Usage Data
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics or Firebase). We may log basic server-side request data (such as API action type and timestamp) for operational and debugging purposes. This data is not linked to advertising profiles.
2. How We Use Your Information
To create and manage your account
To process bus ticket bookings and payments
To send OTP verification codes during signup and password reset
To deliver your e-ticket via WhatsApp (if number provided)
To send push notifications about your bookings and departures
To allow you to view your booking history ("My Tickets")
To operate, maintain, and improve the IvesTravels platform
3. Third-Party Services
We share your information with the following third parties only as necessary to provide our service:
CamPay (campay.net) – mobile money payment processing. Your MoMo phone number and payment amount are shared to initiate payment.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) – our backend infrastructure (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS) hosted in the us-east-1 region. Your account and booking data is stored on AWS servers.
Expo – push notification delivery. Your device push token is passed through Expo's notification service.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Data Retention
Sessions expire automatically after 7 days of inactivity.
Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see Section 7).
5. Data Security
We protect your information using the following measures:
Passwords are stored as SHA-256 hashes — never in plain text.
All communication between the app and our backend uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
Session tokens are randomly generated 64-character hex strings with automatic expiry.
Suspended accounts are automatically invalidated on each request.
6. Children's Privacy
IvesTravels is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information via the Profile screen in the app
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw push notification permission at any time in your device Settings

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
